Due to a wet weather forecast the D1 team decided to not take the chance of a “rain out” and skipped out on racing at Potomac Friday evening.  Saturday the driver and crew made the trip to Winchester Speedway for the Lee Stultz Memorial.  The 40 lap, $3000 to win show drew 33 of the area’s top late model teams.  After a pill draw, Bo and the D1 lined up 3rd for the first of three heat race events.  Bo was able to take the lead and claim the qualifying event win.  Following the invert draw of seven, the D1 began the feature in the 7th starting spot.  With heavy lap traffic becoming a factor, Bo climbed his way into the 3rd place position, racing three wide with 2nd place and numerous lapped cars.  After the final restart, Bo was able to grab and hold onto the 2nd place position finishing behind the 90 of Gary Stuhler.  We would like to thank the driver and crew for an awesome evening of racing despite the gray clouds in the sky.

Cruisin’ for Courtney III was a go despite light rain and some windy conditions Sunday afternoon.  Unfortunately the soggy weather kept some cars and spectators indoors, however the event was still a success with nearly 150 cars participating.  DPE and D1 Motorsports would like to thank all who were involved with this event and a special thank you goes to Michael Sotosky for his dedication to this benefit.  We are proud to be able to participate in a special day like this.  We hope to be sporting the tribute door on the D1 this Friday evening at the Bedford Speedway.  Let’s all hope for sunny skies!

Friday evening the D1 team headed to Elkins Speedway to vie for a position in the IRS sanctioned event.  Due to drive shaft issues the team was unable to qualify for this event, finishing one spot out of the qualifying spot.  After fixing this problem, the team left for Winchester Speedway Saturday evening.  After pill drawing to start in the 8th spot of the 2nd heat race, Bo finished 4th.  Due to Bo’s feature win the weekend before, he was unable to start any higher than the 12th spot for the feature event.  A last lap surge left Bo and the D1 finishing in the 4th spot, only a bumper out of the 3rd position.  DPE would like to thank the driver and crew for an excellent weekend of racing with many more to come.

Crusin’ for  Courtney III update: The D1 tribute door panel finally made it to the Bedford Speedway this Friday evening.  Coordinator Michael Sotosky created excitement about the door through his announcing skills and the first evening out the door raised $68.  The door is scheduled to make a visit to the Conemaugh Township High School this week.   If you haven’t had a chance to sign this commemorative door look for it next Friday at Bedford and at the event on May 11th.

Unfortunately, mother nature rained out all of our racers this weekend.  However, we were finally able to take a few photos of the new D1. We would like to dedicate this update to all of the drunk race fans at Bedford Speedway!  Keep checkin up on us!
